Current research projects, for which additional students are being sought at the Master's and Ph.D. levels, include:

  • Fundamental assessment of sorptive phosphorus removal in constructed treatment wetland effluents;

  • Treatment of landfill leachate using constructed fringe wetlands;

  • Feasibility of use of zebra mussel shells as a sorptive medium for phosphorus removal;

  • A Canadian on-site zero-discharge wastewater treatment system;

  • Biosolids reduction techniques for industrial wastewater treatment applications; and

  • Low impact development for stormwater control in land-restricted lakeside villages.

Additional projects may be available through the Fudan (Shanghai, PRC)-Queen's Co-laboratory of Environmental Research on Urbanization, and the Centre for Sustainable Watersheds (Portland, ON).
