Many of our students start their education in science-based programs such as Life Sciences. Some transfer after receiving an ArtSci degree, but most join the program after completing one or two years of university.

Transferring into Engineering Chemistry allows students to continue their study of fundamental science, culminating in a degree that is recognized by the Canadian Society for Chemistry as a chemistry program. In addition, they receive the engineering science and design training that is needed to apply this knowledge for societal benefit, culminating in a degree that is recognized by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board as an engineering program. These unique undergraduate degree qualifications allow our graduates to access high-level, professional employment opportunities that are not generally available to non-engineering disciplines.

Given the science-based background of most transfer students, their transition into Engineering Chemistry is straightforward. University course credits earned in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geology, biochemistry, etc. are reviewed by a Transfer Student Advisor to be credited against Engineering Chemistry curriculum requirements. Furthermore, complementary studies requirements are often also satisfied by transfer student credits. Consultation with the advisor will produce a degree plan and course schedule that is tailored to the individual.
